Obermünchen is a district of the municipality of Obersüßbach in the Lower Bavarian district of Landshut . Until 1978 it formed an independent municipality.

Obermünchen is located in the Hallertau about 2.5 kilometers south of Obersüßbach near the district border with Upper Bavaria .
history
As early as 1605 there is a report of a 1000 year celebration in Obermünchen, according to which the place goes back to the year 605. Around 935 Obersüßbach, Obermünchen and Niedermünchen are mentioned in a directory of the Tegernsee monastery .
The municipality of Obermünchen initially belonged to the Moosburg regional court , then to the Mainburg regional court , which was newly established in 1857, to the Mainburg district office and finally to the Mainburg district . As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , the municipality of Obermünchen was incorporated into the municipality of Obersüßbach on May 1, 1978.
Obermünchen became famous for its horse races. Over time, horse races were replaced by equestrian festivals with show jumping and dressage rides.

- Filial church of St. Stephen and Laurentius. The Romanesque, Baroque altered complex has the sacristy on the ground floor with a baroque, ridged cross vault. The high altar from 1700 with a six-columned retable contains a wooden figure of St. Stephen from around 1500.
