Obermeitingen is a district of the municipality of the same name Obermeitingen in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech . The Obermeitingen colony is not to be confused with the parish village of Obermeitingen.

geography

The colony is located about two kilometers southeast of the parish village on the western gravel terrace of the Lech im Lechfeld . Federal highway 17 and the Bobingen – Landsberg am Lech railway line run immediately to the west .

history

After the bad harvest of 1846 and the abolition of the manorial rule in 1848 , cheap land was made available to settlers from the Palatinate and Alsace in the Lechauen, similar to the colony of Hurlach and Königsbrunn .

From 1944 to 1945 the Kaufering IX subcamp was located west of the colony .
