Oberzell is a district of the municipality of Osterzell in the Swabian district of Ostallgäu .

The village of Oberzell is about one kilometer south of Osterzell in the Hühnerbach valley . Immediately to the east is the Sachsenrieder forest .

The rural district was probably founded shortly after Osterzell.

Oberzell belonged to the Osterzell dominion, which belonged to the Rottenbuch monastery from 1699 to 1803 .

The Catholic chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows from 1826 is located in Oberzell.
