Headquarter Odenwald Faserplattenwerk GmbH in Amorbach

The Odenwald Faserplattenwerk GmbH (OWA) is a German manufacturer of mineral boards based in Lower Franconia Amorbach (Bayern). OWA manufactures the products and solutions for suspended ceilings itself. OWA ceiling systems are sold internationally through our own sales and investment companies as well as independent trading partners.

In Amorbach , OWA produces up to 100,000 m² of mineral tiles daily on around 200,000 m². The bio-soluble wool ( mineral wool ) required for this , the basic raw material for the panels, is also produced there. Another production facility is located in Shanghai ( People's Republic of China ), where OWA manufactures part of its suspension systems and metal ceilings through a German-Chinese joint venture . OWA opened a third plant - also for construction systems - in Michelstadt (Hesse) in 2012 .

OWA is a family company and is largely owned by the descendants of the founder Friedrich-Karl Rogge. In 2014 the transition to the third generation of founders was initiated.

Company history

Friedrich-Karl Rogge

On September 24, 1948, Friedrich-Karl Rogge and eight other shareholders and companies founded the Odenwald GmbH wood fiber board in Amorbach . Initially with 60 employees, they produced acoustic and insulation panels on a wood fiber basis. In 1960 Rogge discovered the raw material mineral wool in the USA and acquired a license to manufacture new types of products.

In 1964 the name was changed to Odenwald Faserplattenwerk GmbH and the short name OWA was introduced with today's logo. The term “Odenwald ceiling ” for the drywall acoustic ceilings also originates from this time .

At the end of the 1970s, a plant for in-house production of mineral wool was built. The "black wool" made of basalt shaped the appearance of the OWAcoustic panels for around 20 years . Perlite , another raw material in mineral tiles, has been processed in-house since 1994 .

In 1987 Dirk Rogge, son of the company founder, took over the management together with Rainer A. Wagenmann. Ten years later, production was switched to bio-soluble mineral wool ("white wool"), which is obtained from a mixture of sand, waste glass, dolomite and lime .

In 1999 the glass office tower was built as a new administrative center. In 2012, the architect and designer Hadi Teherani created the 360 ° panorama exhibition “7th Floor” for new ceiling systems. The office building was also certified according to LEED Gold in 2012 .

In 2006 OWA opened a joint venture company with Syntech Taiwan (BUIMA) in Shanghai for the production of OWAconstruct rail systems. The company operates as OWA Metallic New Building Materials Co., Ltd. Since 2010, OWAtecta metal ceiling panels have also been manufactured there according to European standards.

In 2012, OWA opened a second production facility for OWAconstruct rail systems in Michelstadt ( Hessen ). At this point in time, over 470 employees were working for the company.
