With Seventeen (Original title: Quand on a 17 ans ) is a French film drama by André Téchiné from 2016 with Sandrine Kiberlain , Kacey Mottet Klein and Corentin Fila in the leading roles. The film took part in the 2016 Berlinale competition. The film title refers to the opening line " On n'est pas sérieux, quand on a dix-sept ans " ( French for "You are not serious when you are 17 years old") of a poem by Arthur Rimbaud . According to the credits, the film is based on the Arte television film New Wave .

Damien and Thomas are in the same class. They can't stand each other - one triggers the other, they abuse and fight each other. While Thomas lives with his adoptive parents in the mountains and takes three hours a day to get to school, Damien lives downstairs in the village with his mother Marianne, who is a doctor. Damien's father is currently on a foreign assignment as a soldier and is therefore rarely at home.
Thomas' adoptive mother becomes unexpectedly pregnant after several miscarriages and has to be hospitalized for a few days. Then Marianne invites Thomas to live with her and Damien in the meantime.
