Corentin Fila (born September 28, 1988 in Paris ) is a French actor.

Life

childhood and education

Corentin Fila was born in Paris, where he also grew up. His French mother works as a teacher with autistic children. His father, with whom he has no contact, is the director David-Pierre Fila (* 1954) from the Congo , who mainly made documentaries. Fila's godfather is the Congolese singer and musician Zao .

Fila, who as a teenager counted basketball players Allen Iverson and Kobe Bryant among his role models, attended the Lycée Montaigne in Paris . After graduating from high school in social sciences (Bac ES), he graduated from Paris Descartes University with a degree in economics . After graduating, Fila was discovered on the street as a model and he occasionally took on assignments as a photo model for the Elite agency .

Fila's enthusiasm for acting was awakened by his own account in 2012 when he attended a performance of Peter Brook's play The Suit at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord , which was staged with South African actors. The 23-year-old, who at the time was in a relationship with a drama student from the Cours Florent , applied for an apprenticeship at the renowned drama school himself. In 2012 he was accepted into the “classe libre” of the Cours Florent and trained there until 2014.

Successful acting debut

Fila gained international fame with his first film role in André Téchiné's feature film Mit Seventeen (2016) with Sandrine Kiberlain . In it he was seen as a young adoptive son who lives in a peasant family in southwestern France and falls in love with the son of the village doctor (portrayed by Kacey Mottet Klein ). The relationship between the two young people is characterized by mutual rejection and attraction. According to his own information, Fila received the part of Tom, although he did not yet have sufficient acting technique and no agent. Known as a theater director, Téchiné gave him little psychological explanations for his character and instead advised him to play like a "wild animal".

At the age of seventeen , it premiered in the competition at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival in 2016 and earned both Fila and his screen partner, the up-and-coming actor Kacey Mottet Klein , the praise of the specialist critics. Both were identified as possibly contender for the Best Actor Award traded, but which at Majd Mastour ( Hedi's wedding ) was awarded. In 2017 Fila received nominations for the French film awards César and Prix Lumières for his performance in With Seventeen , each for Best Newcomer .
