The Oecobiidae are a family of true spiders and comprise six genera and 108 species. (As of December 2016)

description

Oecobiidae are small to medium-sized spiders with a body length of 3 to 15 mm. They have three tarsal claws and six or eight eyes. The six or eight eyes are arranged in a compact group in the front part of the prosoma. The prosoma shape is almost round and slightly heart-shaped. The opisthosoma is oval to round and partially flattened. The legs are short and star-shaped from the body.

There are cribellate and ecribellate genera. All species are entelegyn .

distribution

The main focus of the family is the tropics . The genera Oecibus and Uroctea show cosmopolitans or have representatives in the Holarctic . The following species have been found in Central Europe :
