The Ohebach is a 6.4 km long, southwest and left tributary of the Oker , which rises in Harly in the district of Goslar and flows into the Oker near Lengde . Its course forms a section of the border between the districts of Goslar and Wolfenbüttel in eastern Lower Saxony .

course

The source of the Ohebach is located on the northern slope of the Harlyberg, where the brook receives two smaller tributaries, which, however, regularly fall dry. It flows from the foot of the ridge in heavily straightened sections between Beuchte and Lengde through to the northeast through intensively cultivated fields. In its last section in the Okertal nature reserve , the brook runs for about 400 meters through natural thickets parallel to the Oker, which it reaches after crossing under the federal motorway 36 opposite the Steinfelder Zoll .

Tributary of the same name

In the local area of Lengde there is another stream, which is also referred to as Ohebach in the maps of the Lower Saxony state survey, as well as a street Am Ohebach . This course of the brook is drawn continuously from Harlyberg to below Lengde in historical maps and the brook was evidently moved or divided up later. Both sections meet at the federal motorway 36 .

Water quality

In the water quality report of the NLWKN from 2002, the stream is expressly described as poor in species. There is currently no further information on water quality.
