Ascent history

On May 1, 1982, a Japanese expedition reached the central summit, assuming it was the highest point of the Ohmi Kangri. Due to the adverse conditions on the glaciers east and west of the southwest ridge of Ohmi Kangri, the mountaineering group decided on a route over the southwest flank.

In April 1985 a Swiss-Nepalese expedition climbed the Ohmi Kangri. She also chose to climb the southwest flank. André Rieder and Alain Vaucher reached the north-west summit on April 14, 1985. Terenzio Rossetti, Nicholas Wyrsch, Daniel Chevallier and Michel Alplanalp followed on April 18. On April 20, the Nepalese Ang Nima and Dawa Nuru as well as the Swiss Hans Dielhelm, François Veillème and Ruedi Meier climbed the summit.

In 1989 an American-Nepalese expedition managed to climb the Ohmi Kangri again. The ascent route led over the west wall and the south-west ridge. On May 9th, Dawa Nuru Sherpa, Jan Harris and Mingma Gyalzen Sherpa reached the summit. Dawa Nuru Sherpa thus reached the summit of Ohmi Kangri for the second time.
