Without Crime Mimi never goes to bed is a 1962 by Heinz Gietz composed and Hans Bradtke getexteter hit .

The text is about a man who can't sleep because his Mimi always reads crime novels at night. The song was recorded on May 28, 1962 in the Electrola studio in Cologne with the German-American singer Bill Ramsey . Production was under the direction of Heinz Gietz. Electrola released the title on May 28, 1962 on a vinyl single with the subsidiary label Columbia with the catalog number 22197. On the B-side Ramsey sang the title Flotter Dampfer . It was the first single that Ramsey had recorded after moving from the Polydor record company to Electrola.

On October 6, 1962, Bill Ramsey's version entered the Top 50 of the music journal Musikmarkt . There the title was placed for 14 weeks and on October 27th for four weeks it reached its best ranking in third place.

There are cover versions by Rainhard Fendrich and Dodo Hug . Fendrich released the title as a live version in 2002 on his album Ein Saitensprung (Sony BMG). In the song on the Via Mala CD, released in 2006 with the singer Hug , the sexes were swapped, the title is Jimmy goes without a crime story . Milking the Goatmachine also covered the title in 2014 on their album Greatest Hits - Covered in Milk . There is a response song from 1963 to Bradtke's text by Dany Mann with the title I don't read a crime novel in the evenings .

Mimi never goes to bed without a thriller is also the title of a film by director Franz Antel , which was released on October 19, 1962. In a supporting role, Bill Ramsey sings the song of the crime thriller Mimi.
