Okko Herlyn
Okko Herlyn (* 1946 in Göttingen ) is a German Protestant Reformed theologian and literary cabaret artist and songwriter.
Scientific career
Herlyn studied Protestant theology from 1966 to 1972 in Wuppertal , Göttingen , Zurich and Tübingen . From 1972 to 1974 he worked as an assistant at the Kirchliche Hochschule Wuppertal under Professor Eberhard Jüngel and did his vicariate in Schöller . After receiving his doctorate in Tübingen, he was parish priest in Duisburg- Wanheim from 1977 to 1994 . Since 1991 he has been a lecturer at the Evangelical University of Applied Sciences Rhineland-Westphalia-Lippe in Bochum , where he was appointed professor of ethics , anthropology and theology in 1994 . After his habilitation in 1996, he also worked as a private lecturer for practical theology at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the Ruhr University Bochum . He has been retired since 2011.

Okko Herlyn has also been active as a small literary artist and cabaret artist in the entire German-speaking area for over 20 years .
Awards
- 1997: Lower Rhine literature prize " Dormagener quill pen "
- 2000: 1st prize DGB and church competition "A song connects"
- 2011: 2nd prize of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland in the christening song competition
- 2012: NRW Prize "Culture shapes!" for the children's musical "Die goldene Wasserschale" (text and music)
- 2018: Sexau community award for theology for the book "What is actually Protestant?"
