Okocim is a village in the Brzesko powiat in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland . Okocim is part of the urban-and-rural municipality of Brzesko .
The population is around 1900 (as of 2006).
geography
Okocim is about 2 km south of Brzesko and 49 km east of Krakow . In the west the village is bordered by the Uszwica river .
history
The first written mention of Okocim comes from the year 1344 by King Casimir the Great , in it he confirms the possession of Okocim to the castellan of Cracow, the Comes Specimir . The village remained in family ownership until 1512, when it went to Piotr Czerny. In 1634 a small wooden church was built but there was a chapel here earlier.
From 1975 to 1998 Okocim was part of the Tarnów Voivodeship .
The beer brewer Götz
Around 1850 the brewer Johannes Götz bought the village. The brewery is still located on the road to Okocim in the south of the city of Brzesko. Götz let himself be ennobled under the name Götz von Okocim. The settlement around the brewery and the beer also bear the name Okocim today .
Economy and Transport
Droga krajowa DK 75 runs west of the village .
