Jadowniki is a village in the powiat Brzesko in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship in Poland . Jadowniki belongs to the urban-and-rural municipality Brzesko . The population is about 5014 inhabitants.

Geographical location

Jadowniki is located about 3 km east of Brzesko and 55 km east of Krakow . It is 1 km to Autobahn 4 ( Europastraße 40 ) in the north.

history

The place was first mentioned in the chronicle of Wielkopolska Godzisława Baszki in the years 1195-1196, when the monks of the Benedictine monastery of Hebdowa used the Vistula to transport their tithe. In the 13th century the village was an important settlement because it was on the route from Kraków to Rus. In the years 1249-1272 there was a church in the village. According to Magdeburg law, Jadowniki received the right to a church, a mill and an inn from King Kazimierz the Great in 1357. 1975-1998 Jadowniki belonged to the Tarnów Voivodeship .
