Olaf Besser (born April 22, 1964 in Weißenfels ) is a former German soccer player in attack . He played for BSG Energie Cottbus in the GDR league .

Career

Besser played in his youth at his home club BSG Chemie Weißwasser . He then moved to BSG Lokomotive Halberstadt in 1982 . In 1985 he went to the BSG activist Schwarze Pump , where he only stayed for a year. In 1986 Besser was hired by BSG Energie Cottbus. He played his first game on the 17th matchday of the 1986/87 Oberliga season , after which he was a regular for the rest of the season. By 1991 he had completed 104 league games, including 82 in the GDR Oberliga, and scored seven goals. During this time, after relegation in 1987 , Besser succeeded in instantly rising again. Then he stayed with Cottbus in the league until they were relegated in 1991. In 1991, Besser took part in the Intertoto Cup with Cottbus , played all six games, but only finished last in Group 4. He then moved for the 1991/92 season to 1. FC Union Berlin in the Oberliga Nordost, scored 18 goals in 38 games and rose after surviving the promotion relegation with the club. Then Besser moved back to Energie Cottbus, where he stayed until 1996. He was used in 127 games and scored 26 goals, but only played in the Oberliga or Regionalliga. In 1996 Besser went to SG Blau-Gelb Laubsdorf for three years . From 1999 to 2006 he worked as a player -coach at Schwarz-Weiß Haasow.

In the vote for Energy Footballer of the Year, Besser came third in 1987, second in 1993 and first place in 1994.

Life

After his career as a professional footballer, Besser worked in a savings bank in Cottbus and also played in the senior company sports league.
