Olaf Möller (born November 19, 1968 in Hamburg ) is a former German basketball player .

Career

Olaf Möller played his entire youth at SC Rist Wedel . From 1986 to 1991 he was already active in the 2nd North Basketball League after the club's promotion . In 1991 he was appointed to the U22 national team under coach Svetislav Pesic and in the same year moved to Telekom Karlsruhe in the 2nd Bundesliga South. After only one year in Karlsruhe, the 2.03 m tall center player moved to TSV Speyer , where he stood out as the best German player in the points / game and rebounds / game categories in the 1993/1994 season.

This was followed by a year at the University of Massachusetts in Boston, where Möller played in the NCAA (2nd Division). 1995 coach Don Beck brought the agile center player back to Germany, where Olaf Möller played from 1995 to 1999 at TVG Basketball Trier in the basketball league . Möller, who was one of the starting five of the TVG Trier and one of the best defensive players in the league throughout his time in the 1st Bundesliga, helped the club to establish itself in the top German and to make it to the playoffs and participation for three years in a row qualify for the European Cup.

Life

Möller, who studied industrial engineering at the University of Karlsruhe in addition to his basketball career and graduated in 1998, ended his career after the 1998/1999 season in order to reorient himself professionally. Today Möller is managing partner of the company Carl FH Möller GmbH (promotional products wholesalers) after positions in the management consultancy Simon-Kucher & Partners and Philips Semiconductors. He is married and has two children.

successes

In 1991 Olaf Möller was appointed to the German U22 national basketball team for the first time. He took part in the unofficial World Cup in Greece in 1991. At club level, the greatest success was winning the DBB Cup with TVG Trier in 1998.
