Music pedagogue
Since 1995, Satzer has been teaching drums in a private music school in Bremerhaven . In 2003 he started at the German branch of the music publisher Alfred Publishing in Cologne under Kräsch! Boom! Bang! a dedicated range of textbooks for children who want to learn the drums or cajón . The band Kräsch! Boom! Bang! intensive was created in collaboration with the internationally known drummer Claus Heßler . So far six titles in the series have been published in Germany, Cajὁn for children also in Norway.
Novelist
In 2009, Satzer wrote his first novel Lenin and the Chickens , which the VFX supervisor and Oscar winner Volker Engel praised: “I [...] read the novel [...] through in one day. The stories about […] pulled me so under the spell that I was downright withdrawn the next day. ”The strongly autobiographical novel describes a trip of several weeks to the Russian city of Perm and its rural surroundings, which Satzer undertook in 2000 . According to his own statement, Satzer had initially started to write down some experiences merely as private travel memories. On the advice of a friend, he finally began to bring the story into a novel and offer it to these publishers.
In 2013 Satzer's second novel Kupferbrot was published . This novel also shows considerable autobiographical features and, according to Satzer, deals with his own family history during the Second World War. The plot, which is an integral part of Satzer's intense relationship with his grandmother, takes readers alternately back to the 1980s and 1945, the year of the war.
