Olaf Wegener (born December 3, 1981 in Dortmund ) is a German chess player .

In 1999 he won the A-Open of the 27th Dortmund Chess Days . In 2002 he won the individual championship of the North Rhine-Westphalia Chess Federation. He has held the title of International Master since 2004 . He achieved the norms for this in group C of the Borwoski IM tournament in Essen in May 2002, at the Hungarian Balaton IM festival in June 2002 (with overachievement) and at a First Saturday IM tournament in Budapest in April 2004.

In the seasons 2004/05 , 2005/06 and 2006/07 he played 28 games for SV Mülheim-Nord in the German Bundesliga , in the seasons 2011/12 and 2014/15 he played in the first division for SC Hansa Dortmund , with whom he also played in the 2nd Bundesliga West.
