Oleg Alexejewitsch Saizew ( Russian Олег Алексеевич Зайцев ; born August 4, 1939 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ; † March 1, 1993 ibid) was a Soviet - Russian national ice hockey player .

Career

Oleg Saizew began his career in 1958 with Krylya Sovetov Moscow . In 1959 he moved to SKA MWO Kalinin , before playing for the central army sports club CSKA Moscow from 1962 . With CSKA he won the Soviet championship five times between 1963 and 1968 and the runner-up in 1967 and 1969. In total, he scored 42 goals in 320 games in the Soviet league .

International

On January 15, 1964, he was in a game against Canada for the first time for the Soviet national team on the ice. At the world championships in 1966 and 1967 he was world and European champion with the national team.

His international career was crowned with gold medals at the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 and 1968 . For the national team, he scored 11 goals in 73 international matches. In 1966 he was inducted into the " Russian Hockey Hall of Fame ". On December 7, 1968, he played his last international match.

After the end of his career, he worked as an ice hockey coach at SKA MWO and CSKA Moscow.
