Oleksij Hennadijowytsch Retynskyj ( Ukrainian Олексій Геннадійович Ретинський ; born November 14, 1986 in Simferopol , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Soviet - Ukrainian composer and visual artist.

Life

Retynskyj was born in the family of a musician in Simferopol in the Crimea . He moved to Zurich in 2009 and studied composition with Bruno Karrer and electro-acoustic composition with German Toro-Perez at the Zurich University of the Arts .

Under the direction of Beat Furrer , he completed postgraduate studies at the Graz University of Art in 2016. He has lived and worked in Vienna since 2014 .

Oleksij Retynskyj is the creator of symphonic, chamber and electronic music as well as music for theater, installation and performance . As a composer, he participated in festivals and concerts in Europe and Asia. His musical works have been played in Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, France and the USA.

Together with the Ton-Studio Idee and Klang Basel he implemented electroacoustic projects for the Landesmuseum Zürich , the Imperial War Museum in London, the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture in Saudi Arabia and others.

The Greek conductor Teodor Currentzis was the first to discover the young composer's music and to begin promoting it.

In addition to his work as a composer and musician, he expresses himself in painting and film photography.

He has lived and worked in Vienna since 2014 .
