Olena Iwaniwna Pacholtschyk ( Ukrainian Олена Іванівна Пахольчик ; born November 2, 1964 in Pavlodar , Kazakh SSR ) is a former Ukrainian sailor .

successes

Olena Pacholtschyk took three times in the 470 dinghy at the Olympic Games in part. In 1992 she joined the United Team at the side of Laryssa Moskalenko , with whom she narrowly missed a medal win as fourth. At the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and 2000 in Sydney , she went each with Ruslana Taran at the start. With 38 points, they won the bronze medal behind the Spanish and Japanese boats in 1996, as well as four years later when they finished the Olympic regatta with 48 points behind the Australian and the US boat also in third place.

In 1991 she became vice world champion in Brisbane, first with Moskalenko and again in 1995 in Toronto with Taran , before she won the title three times in a row with Ruslana Taran in Tel Aviv in 1997 , in Mallorca in 1998 and in Melbourne in 1999 . From 1995 to 1999, Pacholtschyk and Taran were also European champions five times in a row. In 1997 the World Sailing Association named Pacholtschyk and Taran World Sailors of the Year . For her success she received the Order of Merit, Second Class , in 1999 and, a year later, the Order of Princess Olga, Third Class.
