Olga Bezsmertna ( Ukrainian Ольга Безсмертна Olha Bessmertna ; born 1983 in Bohuslaw , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian opera singer with a soprano voice . She has been part of the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera since 2012 .

Life

Bezsmertna completed her vocal studies at the National Music Academy of Ukraine Peter Tchaikovsky in Kiev and graduated in 2010. In 2007 she was engaged at the Opera Oder-Spree Festival . Between 2006 and 2011 she achieved a number of successes in international singing competitions. For that of the New Voices 2011 the jury chairman was Dominique Meyer , director of the Vienna State Opera . She prevailed against 1,400 participants from 68 countries and won First Prize. The following year he engaged her at the Vienna State Opera, of which she is still a member.

In between, in summer 2011, Bezsmertna was a participant in the Young Singers Project of the Salzburg Festival . She made her debut at the Vienna State Opera on March 19, 2012 as Lora in Wagner's Die Feen , a role that she sang only once. Ten days later she made her spectacular role debut as Die Dame in Hindemith's Cardillac and since then she has been firmly established in the Haus am Ring. She sang and sings at the State Opera Mozart (Pamina and First Lady in the Magic Flute , Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni and the Figaro Countess), Strauss (Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos , one of the five maids in Elektra and the four last songs in one Ballet production), but also Verdi (the priestess in Aida and Anna in Nabucco ) and Wagner (Freia, Gerhilde and Third Norn, as well as the 2nd flower girl). The singer increasingly took on leading roles, such as Rusalka in 2014 or Rachel in La juive in 2015 . At the 2015 Vienna Opera Ball , Bezsmertna sang the aria Dove sono from Le nozze di Figaro with great success .

In the summer of 2015 the singer made her debut as Marzelline in Beethoven's Fidelio at the Salzburg Festival - Claus Guth staged it, Franz Welser-Möst conducted it - and in autumn 2015 as Figaro- Countess at the Deutsche Oper Berlin . In March 2016 she was part of the premiere cast of Péter Eötvös ' Tri Sestri - as Irina - and the composer conducted it.
