Oliver Dupont (born January 16, 1990 in Hvidovre ) is a Danish curler . Most recently he played as lead in the Danish national team around Skip Rasmus Stjerne .

Career

Dupont began his international career at the Junior World Championships in 2006 as a substitute for Rasmus Stjerne's team; the team finished fifth. After two more participations, he won the gold medal at the 2009 Junior World Championships as second in the Stjerne team.

His greatest success so far was winning the silver medal at the 2016 World Cup . As a lead , he moved into the final with the Danish team led by Skip Rasmus Stjerne after a semi-final victory against the Americans with Skip John Shuster . The game against the Canadian team around Kevin Koe was lost 3: 5.

At the Mixed Doubles World Championships in 2015 , he finished fifth with his sister Denise Dupont .

He has taken part in the European Championships three times so far. The best placement was ninth place at the 2014 European Championship , where he played second .

In December 2017 he secured Denmark as lead in the team of Rasmus Stjerne ( Skip ), Johnny Fredriksen (Third), Mikkel Poulsen ( Second ) and Morten Berg Thomsen ( Alternate ) by a final victory against the Czech team at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Pilsen one of the two last starting places for the Olympic Winter Games 2018 in Pyeongchang . There the Danes came in tenth and last place after two wins and seven defeats in the Round Robin .

In March 2018, he and his teammates announced their temporary retirement from the sport of curling.

Private life

Oliver Dupont comes from a curling family. His mother Gitte won the bronze medal with the Danish team at the 1990 World Championships and his father Kim took part in the 1980 and 1981 Junior World Championships. His sister Madeleine is the skip of the Danish national team and took part in the 2010 and 2018 Winter Olympics. His sister Denise is a three-time Olympic participant (2006, 2010 and 2018) and plays third in Madeleine's team. Dupont has been married to the Russian curler Viktorija Moissejewa since 2018 . He works as an IT project coordinator.
