Oliver Thomas "Ollie" Allen (born September 7, 1986 in Brentwood ) is a former English football player .
Career
Allen, son of England international Clive Allen , went through his football training at West Ham United , but did not make the leap into the professional field. He then played for Birmingham City , with whose reserve he was in the final of the Birmingham Senior Cup in April 2005 and moved up to the professional field in November 2005. Although he was the most successful goalscorer in the reserve, he remained in the professional team until his contract termination in January 2007 without a competitive game.
The striker found a new club in fourth division club FC Barnet , where he played on a non-contract basis. After he was used several times as a substitute, he scored one goal in each of his first four starting eleven. Among them was the equalizer, the first goal conceded for Wayne Hennessey after 862 minutes, in the 3-1 victory over Stockport County , which had previously won nine games without a goal . Nevertheless, coach Paul Fairclough did not submit a contract offer to Allen for the following season, whose club membership ended after 15 competitive appearances, but instead signed Anthony Thomas .
In July 2007 Allen joined the fifth division side Stevenage Borough , preceded by a successful season preparation, including a test match goal against first division side Tottenham Hotspur . There he was in the starting line-up only once during the season, also due to an injury, and scored one goal in 13 missions. From February to March 2008 he was loaned for a month to league rivals Crawley Town , for whom he scored both goals in a 2-2 win over Exeter City . At the end of the season, Allen decided to end his football career due to a persistent knee injury and his contract with Stevenage was terminated.
Nevertheless, Allen's name appeared occasionally in the 2008/09 season. In the first round match of the FA Cup 2008/09 he was substituted on for the Isthmian League club Harlow Town in the 2-0 defeat by Macclesfield Town . In January 2009 he joined the sixth division FC Thurrock , the last documented station being the seventh division Billericay Town , which he joined in March 2009.
