The Olympic Tower is a skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan on Fifth Avenue . The building contains offices, apartments, and shops and exhibition areas in the basement.

history

A building of the Best Company, built in 1947, was on the site. Aristotle Onassis acquired the property in order to pool the New York branches of his companies there. The building also offered apartments. The first drafts for the building came from Caesar Pinnau , the implementation and support of the implemented design was from Skidmore, Owings and Merrill . After the death of Aristotle Onassis, the building became the property of Olympic Airlines , which sold it to the Onassis Foundation around 2002. Since then, the lower floors have served as the foundation's cultural center.

For many years it was considered the most luxurious and expensive address in the New York luxury apartment market. Only the Trump Tower relegated the building to second place.
