The team eventing at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin took place from August 13th to 16th.

Course of the competition

Each nation provided a team of three riders. A total of 14 nations took part, of which only four made it into the ranking. No separate rides were carried out for the team competition, instead the results from the individual competition were evaluated. This started on August 13th with dressage riding on the Maifeld , where the Dutch performed best. Two days later, the cross-country ride took place at the Döberitz military training area . However, the course was very controversial, especially since the rain the day before had worsened the condition. Three horses were killed in an accident. One of the deaths occurred on the fourth obstacle, which had caused numerous more falls. Only 27 riders could reach the goal. Konrad von Wangenheim with his horse "Kurfürst" also fell and broke his left collarbone. Despite the injury, he got back on his horse and finished the ride. With an immovable arm, he started again the next day in show jumping in the Olympic Stadium . He fell again and again forced himself to end the ride so that he saved the gold medal for the German team.
