The eventing at the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin took place from August 13th to 16th.

Course of the competition

Eventing began on August 13th with dressage riding on the Maifeld . A total of 50 riders started, of which the German Ludwig Stubbendorff achieved the best result. Two days later, the cross-country ride took place at the Döberitz military training area . However, the course was very controversial, especially since the rain the day before had worsened the condition. Three horses were killed in an accident. One of the deaths occurred on the fourth obstacle, which had caused numerous more falls. Only 27 riders could reach the goal. Ludwig Stubbendorff emerged as the best rider. With this small field of participants, the show jumping took place in the Olympic Stadium the following day . With the Austrian Karl Neumeister , the Polish Seweryn Kulesza and the Dane Vincens Grandjean, three athletes were able to achieve the most successful results. Nevertheless, Stubbendorff secured the Olympic victory.
