The Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark III is a mirrorless system camera from Olympus for the Micro-Four-Thirds system. It is the successor to the OM-D E-M5 Mark II and has been available in European stores since November 2019.
Innovations
The most important innovations of the E-M5 Mark III are the processor and sensor, both of which were adopted from the OM-D E-M1 Mark II . This increases the resolution compared to the E-M5 Mark II from 16 to 20 megapixels, with high-res shot recordings from 40 to 50 megapixels. The shortest shutter speed of the electronic shutter is now 1 / 32,000 s instead of 1 / 16,000 s before. The new electronic shutter also enables a higher series frame rate of up to 30 frames per second.
The autofocus system was expanded from 81 to 121 measuring fields and now works with hybrid autofocus , which supplements the previous contrast method with a sensor-based phase contrast measurement.
With the E-M5 Mark III, video recordings can be made with 4K resolution (4096 × 2160) and a frame rate of 24 frames per second.
In addition to the previous W-LAN interface, external control of the camera is also possible via Bluetooth .
