The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV is a mirrorless system camera from the manufacturer Olympus for the Micro Four Thirds system. It is the successor to the OM-D E-M10 Mark III , was presented at the beginning of August 2020 and has been available in European stores since August 20, 2020. The camera is aimed primarily at beginners and offers them many assistance functions.

Innovations

The most noticeable innovation of the OM-D E-M10 Mark IV is the image sensor, which has a higher resolution than the previous model with 20 megapixels. It corresponds to the sensors in the larger Olympus models.

The case has been changed slightly compared to its predecessor, and the handle has been enlarged. The dimensions remained almost the same, the weight was slightly reduced. The OM-D E-M10 Mark IV contains the TruePic-VIII image processor, which is also included in the OM-D E-M10 Mark III . The series frame rate increased marginally from 8.6 to 8.7 frames per second when the mechanical shutter was used, and up to 15 frames per second with the electronic shutter.

The monitor on the back of the camera can be tilted vertically like the previous model, but the new option is to tilt it down by 180 degrees for selfie shots. For the first time, an external power supply via the USB interface is possible with a camera of the OM-D E-M10 series.

Better face recognition and a faster memory card slot (UHS-II) have been adopted from the OM-D E-M1 III . According to the manufacturer, the camera's internal image stabilization and the auto focus have also been improved.

The camera can still be controlled from smartphones , tablet PCs or computers via a WLAN connection. In addition, it has the Bluetooth interface introduced with the Olympus OM-D E-M1X for coupling with the Olympus Image Share app.
