Marco Benini

Marco Benini (born May 12, 1982 in Ingolstadt ) is a German - Italian priest , author , liturgical scholar and university professor .

Benini is the son of a family who immigrated from Bologna in 1980 . He grew up in Ingolstadt in Upper Bavaria .

From 2001 to 2006 he studied Catholic theology at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt . In 2003 and 2004 he studied for a year at the Pontifical Gregorian University . He completed his pastoral course in the parishes of Neuendettelsau and Saxony - Lichtenau .

On April 12, 2008, Bishop Gregor Maria Hanke ordained him a priest. Then he was chaplain in Neumarkt and youth pastor of the Neumarkt deanery in the Upper Palatinate . In 2012 he became a chaplain in Raitenbuch and Pfraunfeld . On September 1, he was also appointed vicar at Eichstätter Cathedral .

On December 9, 2015, he did his doctorate on the celebration of the Easter Festival in the Ingolstadt parish book of Johannes Eck at the KU Eichstätt. For this he received the Cardinal Weather Prize from the Catholic Academy in Bavaria . On May 17, 2018 , he completed his habilitation on Liturgical Biblical Hermeneutics: The Holy Scriptures in the Horizon of the Worship Service . For this he received the Habilitation Prize from the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt and the Austrian Pius Parsch Prize.

In the 2018 summer semester he represented Jürgen Bärsch as Professor of Liturgical Studies. From August 27, 2018 to April 2020, he was visiting professor at the Theological Faculty of the Catholic University of America . In the summer semester 2020 he was a deputy professor at the University of Augsburg .
