The Olympus OM-D E-M1X camera model is a digital, mirrorless system camera housing from the manufacturer-independent Micro Four Thirds system . It was announced in January 2019 and has been available in stores since February 2019. The camera is the top model of the Olympus OM-D series, its target group are professional nature, sports and documentary photographers. However, it does not replace the previous model Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II , but is offered in parallel to it.
technical features
The Olympus OM-D E-M1X has been expanded on the technical basis of its predecessor OM-D E-M1 Mark II by a number of features for the professional target group. Particularly noticeable is the voluminous housing compared to other Micro Four Thirds cameras, which has an integrated second handle with which the camera can be held and operated in a vertical position. There are also two other components in the E-M1X: Two TruePic-VIII image processors increase the processing speed and enable high-resolution recordings with 50 megapixels by hand. Two slots for SD cards speed up the storage of recordings. The housing can hold two batteries at the same time, which increases the endurance of the camera to up to 2580 images.
Compared to the E-M1 Mark II, the image stabilization and autofocus speed, especially the tracking of moving objects, have been improved. The electronic viewfinder has been enlarged without changing the resolution. Completely new components compared to its predecessor are the built-in environmental sensors: GPS, compass, barometer, thermometer and acceleration sensor.
Resistance and reliability have also been increased: In addition to better sealing of the housing and revised sensor cleaning, the manufacturer states that the shutter is designed for 400,000 releases.
