Omø or Omö is a Danish island between Smålandsfarvandet ( German  Smålandsfahrwasser ) and the Great Belt off Zealand . The island forms its own parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) Omø Sogn in the Slagelse municipality and until 1970 belonged to the Harde Vester Flakkebjerg Herred in what was then Sorø Amt . With the dissolution of the Harden structures in 1970 it was attached to the Skælskør Municipality in what was then Vestsjællands Amt . Since the local government reform on January 1, 2007 , it has belonged to the Slagelse municipality in the Sjælland region .

The island is visited by many tourists in the summer months. The marina in particular is a popular travel destination. There is a ferry connection to Stignæs via the neighboring island of Agersø .

The island has 166 inhabitants on an area of ​​452  hectares (January 1, 2020). Omø belongs to the Association of Danish Small Islands .
