The motor ship Omar El Khayam is a river cruise ship of the Travco Group and is operated by Travco-Steigenberger Hotels and Resorts . It operates on Lake Nasser in Egypt for cruises on the route between Aswan and Abu Simbel . The ship, named after the Persian philosopher, mathematician and astronomer Omar Chayyām , is classified in the five-star category (national category ). The operator works with the Egyptian travel company Dynasty and among others with the travel company Phoenix Reisen GmbH Bonn .
Furnishing
The Omar El Khayam was built in 2008, commissioned in 2009 and completely renovated in 2018. The cruise ship has 68 double cabins, 8 grand suites and 4 royale suites for a maximum occupancy of up to 160 people. All rooms are equipped with individually adjustable air conditioning and have a small balcony.
The on-board restaurant Abu Nawas is located in the middle area of the first deck with the entrance next to the reception. The guest cabins on decks 2 to 4 and the sun deck can be reached by elevator. A bar serves the guests on the sun deck. A swimming pool and two whirlpools are set up there in the front area of the ship. In addition to a sauna, there are also two whirlpools on the lower deck. There are also fitness rooms and massages are available here. The facilities include two lounge bars in the front area of decks 3 and 4, on deck 3 with an attached card room and a billiard room. A souvenir shop on deck 2 sells jewelry, postcards and a few books.
