occupation

Ong-bak 3 ( Thai : องค์ บาก 3 ) is a 2010 Thai martial arts film directed by Tony Jaa and Phanna Rithikrai . The German DVD and Blu-ray Disc release date was November 26, 2010.

In terms of content, the production ties in with its predecessor Ong-bak 2 from 2008 and tells the story of the fighter Tien, who is on a campaign of revenge.

action

After Tien was overpowered and tortured to near death, he was rescued and taken to the monks of Kana Khone Monastery. There he recovered from his injuries and learned to deal with his karma through meditation . When he is attacked by warriors at his meditation site and defeated them, he discovers that everything in the village has been destroyed and that nobody lived there anymore. He now expressed his willingness to act to Master Bua. Then he went to his enemy "Crow", who had made all the villagers his slaves. The "crow" had Tien's friend Pim tortured, brought to her and cut her throat. Tien then killed all the guards and was killed by the crow himself. But all of this only happened in Tien's imagination. He had only imagined everything that would have happened if he had acted like that. Again in real time, the crow challenges him to the final fight. Tien wins and in the end Tien and Pim marry.

Reviews

Jens Niedzielski criticizes the religious portrayals and the spiritual influences of the production in the film magazine Splatting Image . "After the first thirty minutes you are on the point of copying ONG BAK 3 ..." He also describes the script as "excruciating" and "pointless" and states that the work is "not a technically well-rounded film".
Despite all this, the final part is "better" than the previous one. The balance between story, character portrayal, action and Jaa's acting skills is more consistent. Ong Bak 3 just makes more "sense".

production

As with the abruptly ending predecessor Ong-bak 2 , this production also ran into complications. The premiere of the film has been postponed several times, it took place on May 5, 2010 in Bangkok .
