The Opština Mavrovo i Rostuša ( Macedonian Општина Маврово и Ростуша , Albanian  Komuna e Mavrovës dhe Radostushës ) is one of the Opštini of North Macedonia . It is part of the Polog region . The administrative seat is the village of Rostuša .

geography

The Opština area borders in the north with that of Gostivar , in the east with Zajas , in the south-east with Drugovo , in the south with Debar and in the west it forms the state border with Albania .

The Mavrovo National Park occupies part of the Opština.

population

According to the last census from 2002, there were 8,618 people in 1969 households in Opština. This corresponds to 4.38 people per household.

In terms of ethnicity, 4,349 identified themselves as Macedonians , 2,680 as Turks and 1,483 as Albanians . 106 belonged to other ethnic groups, including the Bosniaks .
