Bianca's Orchid ( Ophrys biancae (death.) Macch. Is) a kind of generic Ragwurzen ( Ophrys ) in the family of orchid plants (Orchidaceae). It is also known as the subspecies Ophrys fuciflora subsp. biancae (death) Faurh. or Ophrys oxyrrhynchos subsp. biancae (death.) Galesi, Cristaudo & Maugeri viewed. It usually blooms 2 to 3 weeks earlier than the Schnabel-Ragwurz ( Ophrys oxyrrhyncos ).
description
This herbaceous perennial plant reaches heights of between 10 and 25 cm. It has four to six basal leaves .
The inflorescence includes four to ten flowers . The sepals are usually whitish to pink in color, but they can rarely appear greenish. The lateral petals are pink to red and broadly triangular. The lip, which is hairy all around, is brown-red in the middle or, rarely, dark brown. This clearly stands out from the yellow border.
The flowering period extends from March to April.
Location and distribution
This representative of the Ragwurzen can be found in sparse pine forests and garrigues at altitudes between 45 and 650 meters above sea level. This species is endemic to south-east Sicily .
