The Orange Sun is a special tanker designed as a fruit juice tanker .
details
The ship was built under hull number 146 at Aker Yards Florø in Florø , Norway . The keel was laid on June 23, 2005, the launch on October 14, 2006. The ship was completed on March 16, 2007. At that time, the ship was considered the largest fruit juice tanker in the world.
The ship by the Swiss company used ATLANSHIP in regular service between the Brazilian port of loading Santos and the port of discharge Rotterdam .
Technical specifications
The ship is powered by a two-stroke - seven-cylinder - diesel engine of the manufacturer MAN B & W driven the by Kawasaki Heavy Industries was built in Kobe under license. The type 7 S60MC-C engine has an output of 15820 kW . It acts directly on a controllable pitch propeller via the drive shaft . The ship reaches a maximum speed of 17.5 knots .
A shaft generator with an apparent power of 1725 kVA and three diesel generators with an apparent power of 1219 kVA each provide power. In addition, an emergency generator with an apparent power of 225 kVA was installed.
The ship has four holds with a total of 16 insulated tanks. The holds can be cooled separately. The total capacity of the tanks is 29,120 m³, the largest tank has a capacity of 1,820 m³.
The ship is prepared for the transport of containers that can be carried on deck. The container capacity is 348 TEU .
Incidents
The Orange Sun collided on January 24, 2008 in Newark Bay with a dredger installed on a barge . Damage occurred to both vehicles. The excavator lost around 100 gallons of hydraulic oil as a result of the collision .
