Orbis Provinciarum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Orbis Provinciarum is a popular science, archaeological-cultural history-oriented series of non-fiction books published by Philipp von Zabern , which was designed to present the entirety of the ancient Roman world with a volume dedicated to each Roman province as well as an introductory and overview volume. The focus was "not so much the historical course or political and military events [...], but the description of the life and everyday life of people in Roman times, as they are reconstructed, according to our current knowledge, especially from the material legacy to let". Between 1999 and 2009 10 volumes were published. The series was published as part of Zabern's illustrated books on archeology and was edited by Tilmann Bechert , Rudolf Fellmann , Margot Klee and Annette Nünnerich-Asmus .
