Orchestra at Periwinkle
The Orchester am Singrün is a Regensburg amateur symphony orchestra directed by Michael Falk. It acts as a registered association .
history
The orchestra was founded in February 1986. Many of the founding members were students who knew each other from the university orchestra of the University of Regensburg . From the original chamber line-up , today's 90-piece symphony orchestra with a large string line-up and a complete set of wood and brass instruments as well as percussion developed. The musicians, almost all amateur musicians, come from all over the region.
The first rehearsal room on Goldene-Bären-Straße in the center of Regensburg quickly became too small and so a new room was found in the dining room of the Episcopal Study Seminar Am Singrün 1 in Westnerwacht in the old town, the address of which gave the orchestra its name. The first public appearance took place in 1987 in the Neuhaussaal of the Regensburg Theater. The flutist Reinhard Klink, who also conducted the Siemens Orchestra Munich (SOM) from 1983 to 2001, was won as a conductor. From 1990 the ensemble rehearsed in the Don-Bosco-Heim on Hans-Sachs-Straße , since 2018 the Pater-Rupert-Mayer-Zentrum in Puricellistraße has been the orchestra's rehearsal location.
After Reinhard Klink, the direction of the orchestra went to the Regensburg conductor and composer Lutz Landwehr von Pragenau . In 2018 Michael Falk, second Kapellmeister at Theater Hof , took over the musical direction.
The Orchester am Singrün has so far performed in Eastern Bavaria and in the Czech Republic . The concert programs are often combined with solo concerts, including Stefan Mickisch , Wen-Sinn Yang and Christoph Well . Michael Falk has been a permanent conductor since summer 2018. His predecessor, Lutz Landwehr von Pragenau, was a founding member and played oboe in the orchestra for a long time .
