The Order Carol I ( Romanian Ordin Carol I ) was founded on May 10, 1906 by King Carol I of Romania on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of his government in four classes, whereby the number of the respective Romanian owners up to 22. February 1938 was limited.

Order classes

From January 5, 1944, the medal could also be awarded to women. The medal could also be awarded with diamonds. B. to Mehmed V , Sultan of the Ottoman Empire in 1907.

Carrying method

The ribbon is light blue with narrow golden stripes and a red line in each of them.

Others

The Order Carol I remained the highest order in the country until the end of the monarchy in Romania on December 30, 1947.

From 2003 the order is the highest house order of the Romanian dynasty Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen and is again awarded privately.
