Organ researcher

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Organ researcher is the name for a person who devotes himself to the research of organ building, organ historical and / or organ-specific subject areas.

term

In the appropriate context, the terms organologist and / or organ historian are also used, the latter mainly and specifically addressing issues of organ historiography. Michael Praetorius is considered to be the first organ historian. The term “organ expert”, on the other hand, is unusual, popular, misleading and too general because of its vagueness. The situation is different with the relevant subject or subject teacher title (e.g. professor for organ studies), which generally refers to the entire field.

The names mentioned are not protected and do not require any training. The Association of Organ Experts in Germany only offers a training course for organ experts in conjunction with the Heidelberg University of Church Music .
