The organ landscape of Hinterpommern includes organs in the historical region of Hinterpommern .

territory

The area extends east of the Oder along the Baltic Sea to West Prussia . It belonged to Brandenburg-Prussia since 1648 and to the province of Pomerania since 1815 . The population was almost exclusively German. The country was sparsely populated, there were only smaller cities (Stettin was in Western Pomerania.)

The area has belonged to Poland since 1945, since 1998 largely to the West Pomeranian Voivodeship , and in small parts to the Pomeranian Voivodeship (Ustka).

history

The oldest mention of an organ in Kolberg is from 1270 , and from 1428 in Cammin . In 1580 Adrian Zickermann built a new organ for the Camminer Cathedral, which was replaced by Michael Berigel in 1672 . Only minor works by regional organ builders are known from the 18th century.

The most important organ builders in Western Pomerania in the 19th and early 20th centuries were Christian Friedrich Voelkner from Dünmow and Barnim Grüneberg from Stettin with their successors. In addition, workshops of Wilhelm Sauer from Frankfurt / Oder, Schlag & Sons from Schweidnitz in Silesia, Johann Friedrich Schulze and other other organs built. Wilhelm Grisard was an organ and piano builder in Kolberg.

In 1945 some instruments were damaged, most of them survived. There were only a few minor repairs in the following decades. Few new organs were built or bought in larger churches after 1990.

Organs

Most of the organs from the 19th and early 20th centuries have been preserved, often in a reduced condition. There are baroque brochures in the Camminer Dom , in Stolp (Słupsk) and Belgard (Białogard). The list shows the status in 1944, instruments that have been destroyed or replaced are in italics .
