Oriskany is a place in Oneida County in the US state of New York with 1,400 inhabitants (2010 census). It is located about 10 kilometers northwest of Utica .

history

Oriskany is known for the Battle of Oriskany , which took place here in 1777.

The place was founded in 1811. The Erie Canal originally ran through Oriskany until it was relocated in the 19th century.

economy

Daimler operates a factory for Orion brand buses in Oriskany . Not far from there is the former Oneida County Airport , a regional airport that was closed in 2007.
