Ornithogalum beyazoglui is a plant from the family of asparagus plants (Asparagaceae). It is only known from one site in Western Anatolia.

description

Ornithogalum beyazoglui reaches a height of 3.5 to 17 centimeters. The onions measure 10 to 17 × 7 to 15 millimeters. Bulbils are not formed. The outer onion skins are brown, while the inner ones are whitish and membranous. The shaft is 0.5 to 6.5 inches long, usually erect and bald. The two or three, rarely four leaves measure 4 to 15 (rarely up to 17) × 0.3 to 1 centimeter. They are much longer than the shaft, spread out or upright, mostly lanceolate, more rarely linear-lanceolate, glabrous, mostly flat or slightly runny or just runny at the tip of the leaf. The whole-edged leaves gradually narrow into a pointed end. There is no white center line.

The inflorescence is racemose and consists of two to twelve flowers . The flower stalks are up to 3 centimeters long during the flowering period and up to 4 centimeters long during fruit ripening. At flowering time they are ascending, some bend back strongly when fruiting. The flower stalks are longer than the bracts . The bracts are 0.5 to 2 centimeters long, lanceolate or linear to lanceolate, pointed and just as long or shorter than the flower stalks. The bracts are 9 to 12 millimeters long, colored white on the inside and green on the outside with narrow white edges. The stamens measure 4 to 5 × 1 to 1.5 millimeters and are pointed. The anthers are 2 to 2.5 millimeters long, whitish to dirty white and neither winged nor toothed. The ovary is 2 to 3 × 1.5 to 2 (rarely up to 3) millimeters in size, egg-shaped and longer than the style. The stylus are about 1 to 1.8 (rarely up to 2) millimeters long. The fruits are capsules that are 0.6 to 1 × 0.5 to 1 centimeters in size, egg-shaped and winged. The numerous seeds are 1.5 to 2 × 1 to 1.2 millimeters in size, black, rough and spherical to almost spherical.

Ornithogalum beyazoglui flowers and fruit in May and June.

Systematics

Ornithogalum beyazoglui was by the Turkish botanists Yavuz Bağcı, Ahmet Savran and Olcay Dinç nozzles 2011 first described . The species name Ornithogalum beyazoglui was given in honor of the Turkish botanist Osman Beyazoğlu .

A scanning electron microscope comparison of the seed surfaces of Ornithogalum beyazoglui with those of Ornithogalum lanceolatum showed that both species are closely related.
