Oscar Wagner
Oscar Wagner (born August 9, 1851 in Crossen an der Oder ; † 1916 ) was a German playwright , director , actor , writer and illustrator .
Life
He attended the grammar school in Görlitz . His father, a telegraph operator, was transferred to Berlin, where Heinrich Brugsch trained Oscar Wagner to be a draftsman of Egyptian antiquities. He was offered a job as a draftsman at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo , but the father resisted his son's travel and career plans, whereupon he tried his luck as an actor. He returned to drawing and writing, however, and lived in Düsseldorf for a while until he returned to Berlin, where he again drew hieroglyphs with Heinrich Brugsch and published dramatic and prosaic works. He was married to a daughter of Heinrich Brugsch. As a draftsman he made contributions to books by Karl von Holtei and Julius Stinde .
