Oskar Matzner

Oskar Matzner (born January 11, 1898 in Neudörfel, district of Bärn , Moravia ; † December 29, 1980 in Freilassing ) was a German SPD politician .

Life

After completing the community school, Matzner graduated from the teacher training college in Troppau . During the First World War he served as a soldier in the Austrian army. From 1919 to 1939 he was a teacher at various schools in Moravia . There he campaigned for school reform and the renewal of the rural school system. In addition, he was involved in the local cooperative system . In the Second World War he took part on the German side.

After the war, Matzner was interned in Prague and had to do 15 months of forced labor. He was then expelled from Czechoslovakia . He settled in Karlsruhe , where he worked as a senior teacher and became the refugees' confidante.

MP

Matzner belonged to the German Bundestag from its first election 1949 to 1965 and was elected from the Baden-Württemberg state list of his party. As a parliamentarian, he was chairman of the building and spatial commission of the Bundestag presidium and was particularly active in the field of public service law.
