Ossetians in Turkey
The Ossetians in Turkey ( Ossetian Турчы ирӕттӕ Turčy irættæ , Turkish Türkiye Osetleri ) represent one of the smaller ethnic minorities in Turkey with around 100,000 people . The Iranian- speaking Ossetians are an immigrant Caucasian people; the vast majority speak Ossetian as their mother tongue. The Ossetians in Turkey are mainly Muslim .
history
Like the Circassians and Chechens, the Ossetians came to the Ottoman Empire as refugees from the North Caucasus after the Caucasus War 1817–1864 and the Russo-Turkish War 1877–1878 .
Settlement area
The Ossetians live scattered throughout Turkey and mainly in a few villages in the provinces of Muş , Sivas , Tokat and Yozgat , two villages each in Bitlis and Kars and one village each in Erzurum , Kayseri and Niğde . There is also the diaspora community in the metropolis of Istanbul and other major Turkish cities.

- Bekir Sami Kunduh was an Ottoman and Turkish diplomat and politician and the first foreign minister of the Republic of Turkey.
