history
In May 1920, the workforce of the Simmerings railway works on the Ostbahn set up a permanent establishment association, which resulted in the establishment of ESV Ostbahn XI on April 23, 1921. The sports club Werkstätte Simmering Ostbahn was renamed the Wiener Sportvereinigung Ostbahn in mid-1922 .

Ostbahn XI was able to establish itself as one of the leading amateur sports clubs in Vienna, the most famous player in the early 1930s was the later International Franz Hanreiter . From 1932 to 1934 the Ostbahner played in the VAFÖ league . In 1935 it was even promoted to the professional II. League South, in which the club was able to hold up until 1936/37 . During the time of National Socialism, the club initially played in the third class first class and, like all Viennese railway sports clubs, was assigned to the Reichsbahn gymnastics and sports club in Greater Vienna in 1939. The name Ostbahn XI was increasingly replaced by the official name "Reichsbahn I".
In 1941, the Reichsbahner moved up to 1st class and, as the winner of the 1st season, was able to move up to the Gauliga Donau-Alpenland . To improve sporting competitiveness, it was decided to merge with "Reichsbahn VI", the SK Westbahn . As SG Reichsbahn they showed themselves to be a competitive team in the regional league in the 1942/43 season and beat Rapid 5-2 on the Pfarrwiese. Seventeen-year-old Ernst Stojaspal played in the storm at that time . As seventh place out of eleven teams, the Reichsbahner had to go into relegation with eighth SC Wacker Wien to stay in the league, the game was lost 2-1. The SG Reichsbahn was separated again and Reichsbahn I moved to 1st class Vienna A, Reichsbahn IV to 1st class Vienna B.
