Ostenwalde is a district of the city of Werlte , integrated municipality Werlte , in the Lower Saxony district of Emsland .

Geographical location

Ostenwalde is located in the northeast of the district about six kilometers west of Werlte. The district town of Meppen is located about 29 kilometers southwest of Ostenwalde.

The Theikenmeer nature reserve is east of the village. The railway line of the former Hümmlinger Kreisbahn , now Emsland Railway, runs through the village. Until the mid-1990s there was a siding where oil was loaded onto the railroad; the remains of the oil works on the opposite side of the road were removed in 2005.

Incorporation

With the law on the reorganization of the communities in the areas of Leer and Aschendorf- Hümmling on January 1, 1973, the once independent village Ostenwalde was incorporated into the municipality Werlte.
