Ostman von der Leye , also Ostmann von der Leye , is the name of a Westphalian noble family that later came into possession and prestige in the Kingdom of Hanover . Branches of the family still exist today.

history

The family line begins with Detmar Armbosterer called Ostmann , who appears as a citizen in Wiedenbrück in 1549 .

Franz Ostmann (* 1645; † 1719), Prince-Bishop of Osnabrück Privy Councilor and Vice Chancellor , acquired the Leye estate in 1680 and built a mansion in 1703. The manorial property is still owned by the family today. He was born on September 24, 1705 to Vienna for his services in the Imperial Knight - and erbländisch - Austrian nobility with the predicate of the Leye levied. Sixt Anton († 1745), his son from his marriage to Catharina Jofina von Stael zu Sutthausen, received a certificate confirming the imperial nobility in 1741 .
