history

The place in the Sandomir primeval forest, in the Sandomir basin , was first mentioned in the conscription register in 1538 as Sława Góra . In 1566 Ostrowy seu Sławogóry was re-established. The name Ostrowy is a plural form of ostrów (a forested river island ), the later added addition comes from Tuszów . A Roman Catholic parish was established in 1574.

During the first partition of Poland in 1772, Ostrowy became part of the new Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria of the Habsburg Empire (from 1804).

In 1783 in the course of the Josephine colonization , 14 German families (48 people) were settled there as colonists of the Catholic denomination. The colony was called Sandlautern , later in Polish Budy Tuszowskie or Kolonia . In 1812 there were 70 Germans. By the end of the 19th century, the colonists' descendants were Polonized. In 1900 the two communities Ostrowy Tuszowskie and Ostrowy Tuszowskie Kolonia in the Kolbuszowa district had a total of 1933 hectares. In the Altdorf there were 207 houses with 1160 inhabitants, in the colony 36 houses with 186 inhabitants. Both places were entirely Polish-speaking, apart from Roman Catholics there were 30 Jews in Ostrowy Tuszowskie and 10 in the colony.

In 1918, after the end of the First World War and the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, both communities came to Poland. During the Second World War it belonged to the Generalgouvernement .

From 1975 to 1998 Ostrowy Tuszowskie was part of the Rzeszów Voivodeship .
